Ready for a NEW Year!

Whats-NewAlpha Theta is ready to begin a NEW biennium. NEW projects, NEW programs, NEW ideas, and not to mention 14 NEW members!  We look forward to seeing everyone at our first meeting on Monday, September 26 at 5:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church.  This meeting will kickoff our year.  Committees will meet, we’ll kick off our Fall fundraiser, collect supplies for two local organizations, and enjoy fellowship with each other.

October Meeting

At our October meeting we had 3 guests join us to report on the homeless population in our school district and what is being done to ensure their success.  Our guests were Jacqueline Chavis, Deputy Superintendent of Suffolk Public Schools and Robbin Riddick and Robbie Plain, Guidance Counselors at Mack Benn Elementary School.  After our speakers, we enjoyed a delicious dinner following by our business meeting.

Just a reminder that BBQ orders and cookie dough orders will be collected on October 26 and pickup is scheduled for Thursday, November 12 at Suffolk Presbyterian Church.  Details of the time will be sent out later.

September Meeting

Our September meeting kicked off our fundraiser for the year.  We will be selling BBQ by the pound and cookie dough as we have in years past.  Jane brought BBQ for everyone to sample and suggested we do that with our potential buyers to raise sales.  Committees met and made plans for the year.  Our next meeting will be held on Monday, October 19 at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Fall Executive Board, Roanoke VA

Cindy and I recently attending the IOTA State Fall Boards in Roanoke, VA.  We had a great time attending the General Sessions and workshops where we learned more gaining and retaining members, engaging and building relationships with members, and upcoming professional development opportunities.  We look forward to sharing our experience with you tomorrow at our first meeting of the year.
